How the draw works
- One random drawing, on or about 12:00 AM CT on Jan 1, 2027, from all eligible entries. One entry equals one chance.
- Before the draw, the final entry list is locked with a digital fingerprint (a SHA-256 hash).
- Only after the list is locked, a random seed is taken from a source we don't control: the public drand randomness beacon, or a random value generated on camera if the beacon is unavailable.
- A computer script uses that seed to pick the winner and 5 alternates. The same list and seed always give the same result, and the whole draw is screen-recorded.
- Once the winner is verified and the release is signed, we'll announce them (first name, last initial, city, and state) on Instagram @just.hedge.it.
